1/15/2008 - Elkhart RV Industry Thefts

During the last several months the Elkhart County Sheriff`s Department has received numerous reports of thefts from RV companies and warehouses.  During these incidents, unknown suspects have entered fenced areas by either cutting or going under fencing.  The suspects then enter the RVs, removing flat panel televisions and surround sound systems.

The size of the televisions range from a 19" TV/DVD combo to 27" and 32" flat panels.  Most of the 27" flat panels are Jensen brand.  The 32" flat panels are Olevia brand.  Most of the TVs have been stolen from Forest River plants.

Other sites are Charger Enterprises, Mox warehouse, South Eastern Trailer Transport, and Pinnacle Transport.  The financial cost associated with these thefts is mounting, which eventually must be passed on to the consumer and we all ultimately pay.  The Elkhart County Sheriff`s Department and Crime Stoppers need your help.

12/29/1996 - Madison - unidentified body

On December 29th, 1996 the skeletal remains of a female were discovered in a field in the 21000 block of Madison Road approximately 1/4 mile west of US31 in St. Joseph County, Indiana.  The body was apparently left nude as there was no clothing found at the scene.

A forensic dental examination indicated the victim was congenitally missing the lateral incisors, otherwise the teeth were in good condition with just one filling, indicating regular dental care.  Anthropologists determined the female was between 20-35 years old, approximately 5`5", brown hair, Caucasian or possibly Hispanic.  It is estimated that the victim was deceased 1-2 years prior to the discovery of her remains.

The remains were nicknamed "Madison" by an Anthropologist and the name stuck.  Pictured below is a clay reconstruction based on the skull.
