| 5/4/2008 - Shredding Identity Theft - Promo | Up to 10 million people each year become victims of identity theft. Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personal information to commit a crime. Enviro-Shred, a Better Business Bureau member, and Crime Stoppers realize how important it is to properly dispose of your personal and business records.
On May 16th at 6:00 p.m., the South Bend Police Department will host a free seminar on Identity Theft Protection. And on May 17th, Enviro-Shred will destroy your old documents and recycle the waste for free with your donation to Crime Stoppers, $2 for a Martins bag and $5 for a bankers box full of papers. Come to Martins Supermarkets at Heritage Square in Granger, and Erskine Plaza in South Bend from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Representatives from Law Enforcement and the Better Business Bureau wll be on hand to answer your questions.

| | 4/27/2008 - South Bend Check Fraud | In November of 2007, Crime Stoppers received an anonymous tip about a counterfeit check operation in South Bend. Based on the tip, the South Bend Police Fraud unit launched an investigation which revealed a multi-state organized crime operation. So far, 14 suspects have been identified.
Tens of thousands of dollars in fraudulent checks have been cashed in the area, and in Chicago.
Investigators are now trying to identify two additional suspects, a black male known as "Marcellus", and a black female known as "Piggy". They are believed to be in the Chicago area.

| | 4/20/2008 - Counterfeit checks and credit cards | Everyday, citizens all over the world, including here in Michiana fall victim to counterfeit check and credit card scams. Some will become victims by unknowingly cashing a counterfeit check. But eventually, we all pay for these crimes because of the cost to banks and rising interest rates. Sometimes the suspects are overseas, and sometimes they`re here among us.
Crime Stoppers has been active in bringing tips to local law enforcement agencies who then intitiate investigations, based on the information from our anonymous callers. If you suspect anyone of manufacturing, or committing fraud with counterfeit checks or credit cards contact Crime Stoppers.

| | 4/13/2008 - Jodi Parrack Homicide | On November 8, 2007 the Constantine Police Department received a call about a missing girl. Eleven-year old Jodi Parrack was last seen riding her bicycle in central Constantine at about 4:45 p.m. Several people joined in the search for Jodi. At 10:30 that night, Jodi`s body was discovered by her mother in the Constantine Township Cemetery. Her death was ruled a homicide.
The Constantine Police Department and the St. Joseph County, Michigan Major Crime Task Force have followed up on hundreds of leads, but they still need your help.

| | 4/6/2008 - Fiesta Tapatia Burglary | On March 26, 2008 the Fiesta Tapatia Restaurant at 119 West McKinley in Mishawaka was burglarized. An ATM inside was ripped from where it was bolted to the floor and taken into the freezer where a Sawsall was used to cut into it`s safe. The suspects caused extensive damage inside the restaurant. The manager`s office was ransacked, and there was food, smashed glasses, and broken beer bottles scattered everywhere. The total loss will be several thousand dollars.
